Portland is in good shape to make the playoffs as they are in eighth place in the Western Conference but they can’t afford to look ahead as Memphis is still within striking range.
The Blazers will try and help their cause on Thursday as they face a poor Golden State team (10:35 p.m. ET, TNT). The problem for Portland is that they have lost their last nine trips to Oakland.
The Trail Blazers are listed as 5-point favorites and the total is set at 212.5 at SBG Global.
Portland is coming off an 88-81 win over Sacramento on Tuesday even though they didn’t play well.
“We’re taking these wins, but we know we have to get better if we’re going to make a push,” said Portland’s Brandon Roy. Read More…

The Utah Jazz used to be a team that couldn’t win on the road but that has changed this season. The Jazz have been right around the .500 mark all season on the road and that is a major difference for this year’s team.
In the past, the Jazz excelled at home and collapsed on the road. This year Utah has proven they are tough in road games.
“We have more confidence on the road now,” said Deron Williams. “We realize if we come and create our own energy and play with intensity on defense and get stops, then we’ll have a chance to win ballgames.”
The Jazz visit the Detroit Pistons tonight (7:35 p.m. ET, NBA TV) and are listed as 5.5 -point favorite at SBG Global. The total is set at a total of 202.5
This is a key trip for the Jazz as they still have to play at Milwaukee and Oklahoma City. Read More…
The Butler Bulldogs will try to help some of the bubble teams when they face Wright State on Tuesday in the Horizon League Championship (9 p.m. ET, ESPN).
The No. 12 Bulldogs are going to make the NCAA Tournament regardless of whether they win on Tuesday or not. If Wright State can pull off the upset though, it would take away an at-large bid from one of the bubble teams.
The Raiders have their work cut out for them as Butler has won 19 straight games including both matchups against Wright State this season.
Butler is listed as a 7.5-point favorite at SBG Global and the total is set at 122.
Wright State took out Detroit 69-50 on Saturday to reach the title game of the Horizon League while Butler beat Milwaukee 68-59 to reach the Championship.
The Horizon League would love to send two teams to the NCAA Tournament but that will only happen if Wright State wins on Tuesday. The Raiders have 20 wins but they will be playing in the NIT unless they upset the Bulldogs. Read More…
The Madness is almost upon us and it appears one online sportsbook has already gone a little insane.
SPORTSBETTING.com will award a staggering $1,000,000 to a player who can correctly predict 61 or more NCAA tournament games in its Hoops Madness contest.
If a player can predict 58 to 60 games correctly, he’ll collect $20,000, and if a player predicts 55 to 57 games correctly, he’ll bag $1,000.
Regardless of whether any player successfully predicts that many games, the overall contest champion will win a 42-inch HDTV and Blu-ray DVD player worth $2,000.
The overall runner-up at the end of the contest wins a Nintendo Wii entertainment system and the third place finisher wins an Apple iPhone.
Players can enter the contest for free. And SPORTSBETTING.com is also allowing players to set up their own private bracket pools, which is pretty cool.
Although players are not obliged to make a deposit to enter the Hoops Madness contest, SPORTSBETTING.com continues to offer a wicked 110% sign-up bonus, which has to be one of the best sign-up bonuses in the business. Read More…
The San Antonio Spurs will have to learn to win without guard Tony Parker who will likely miss the rest of the regular season with a broken hand. They might have an easier time on Monday at Cleveland if LeBron James does not play for the Cavaliers (7:05 p.m. ET, NBA TV).
James sat out on Saturday in Milwaukee and the Cavaliers lost 92-85. Head coach Mike Brown said LeBron was held out for rest but James did roll his ankle against Detroit on Friday. The Cavaliers got 30 points out of Antawn Jamison and 27 points from Delonte West but they didn’t have enough to win without LeBron.
The Cavaliers are listed as 7-point favorites at SBG Global and the total is set at 195.
It’s possible that LeBron will be held out again on Monday since the Cavaliers have three days off after this game. Read More…

Nap time is over for the aging San Antonio Spurs, who had four days off after beating the New Orleans Hornets, 106-92, in the Big Easy on Monday.
In what will be their first of 15 games over the next three and a half weeks, the Spurs return to home court on Friday night to face the Hornets again (9:35 p.m. ET, ESPN).
The Spurs, who have won 10 of the last 11 meetings versus the Hornets at home, are listed as 8-point favorites at SBG Global. The total is set at 197.5.
The Spurs are just barely ahead of Portland in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. And the schedule down the stretch is not going to be easy with games against the Lakers, Boston, Orlando, Atlanta and two against Cleveland. Read More…
