The Dallas Mavericks will open their season against their division rivals, the Houston Rockets. The Rockets played their first game last night at home in an 82-71 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavericks will be playing their first regular season game under the direction of head coach Rick Carlisle. Despite the changing of the head coach, the roster remains in tact. They will be looking for revenge against a Rockets team that beat them 113-98 the last time they played in Dallas. There is a buzz around Houston that the addition of Ron Artest makes the Rockets a contender for the NBA Championship. The Rockets will need time to build good team chemistry. The Mavericks will still play the tough defense under previous coach Avery Johnson, but they will be more open offensively. Take Dallas here laying the points.
