A matchup of Top 25 teams is on the college football betting menu Tuesday night when No. 15 BYU faces No. 16 Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).

The Cougars are playing in the Las Vegas Bowl for the fifth straight season and they will have a huge home crowd edge. Nevertheless, the Cougars are listed 2.5-point underdogs at SBG Global and the total for the game is set at 58.5.

The Cougars finished the season 10-2 with their only losses coming to Florida State and TCU. The Beavers are 8-4 but are coming off a tough loss to Oregon that cost them a berth in the Rose Bowl.

On paper, this game figures to be a shootout as both teams have strong offenses. Led by quarterback Max Hall, who has the most career victories for a BYU quarterback with 31, the Cougars had the No. 12 scoring offense in the country this season.

The Beavers, meanwhile, are led by the Rodgers brothers, who can break open a game at any moment. Explosive running back Jacquizz Rodgers racked up 1,377 yards and 20 TDs this season. His brother James, a virtually unstoppable wideout, logged 1,004 receiving yards and nine TDs.

BYU’s potent offense could be problematic for a mediocre Oregon State defense that allowed more than 350 offensive yards per game.

With a ticket to the Rose Bowl slipping out of their grasp, another possible problem for the Beavers could be motivation. Oregon State head coach Mike Riley said his players will have to suck it up.

“Basically, there’s no room for babies here.” he said. “This is a man’s game and you’ve got to step up and do what you have done, every game, all year.”

Here are some key college football betting stats for this game:

The Cougars, who lost to Arizona 31-21 in last year’s Las Vegas Bowl, have not played well out of their conference recently – they are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games. The Cougars are also 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.

The Beavers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games in December. The Beavers are 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games. The Beavers are 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games overall.

The under is 5-2 in the Cougars’ last seven vs. the Pac-10. The under is 4-1 in the Beavers’ last five non-conference games. The over is 7-3 in the Beavers’ last 10 games in December.
